Online Moderators Work From Home

The online monitoring business Metaverse was founded in 2007 and has emerged as a leader in keeping online communities for children safe and engaging. The company's clients include the Cartoon Network, the NFL, Nickelodeon and the State Department.

It employs a large number of workers, many who work from home monitoring Web sites where children create their own avatars and can interact with others. Metaverse employees often create their own avatars to help keep the peace. Keeping kids safe online has a lot to do with keeping them entertained. If you release kids in these online playgrounds with no monitoring, it quickly becomes 'Lord of the Flies', but if you can balance safety with fun and engage the kids, the cyberbullying will be greatly reduced. The Metaverse idea itself was hatched in a virtual world, but one that is intended for adults, called Second Life. Now it has revenues in the millions and remains a private company.
